These two lakes are located on the way of hiking course of "Lake
Kirikomi, Lake Karikomi." That hiking course starts from Yumoto
Hot Spa and ends at Koutoku. Also, it takes you about 1 hour if you
walk passing through the Tadenoumi and Kotouge.

Sign to the Lake Kirikomi

The Lake Kirikomi and the Lake Karikomi are located on the north
side of Mt. Mitsudake (1945m). Landscape of those lakes was made
by lava. However, there is no stream that the water flows out. The
Lake Kirikomi is 400m long, while the Lake Karikomi is 600m long.
Also, depth of both lakes is 15m. Although, there are two names,
those lakes are connected.
It is told that the Lake Kirikomi was originally
called Lake Karigome. The name of the karigome derives from a legend
that Priest Shoto drove the venomous snake into the lake.

The Lake Kirikomi and the Lake Karikomi are surrounded by natural
forest. Especially, forest of various willows is seen around the
lakeside of Karikomi.
The natural forest grows thick to the waterside,
and it is not possible to approach without a path. However, there
is the beach on the Lake Karikomi, and it is a good place for rest.
