Nature World of Toshogu Shrine

There are 50 kinds of plants, and about 4000 sculptures are decorated in shrines of Toshogu. Peony is the most frequently seen, and chrysanthemum and plum follow then. Also, there are sculptures of fruits such as peach, persimmon, chestnut, loquat, grape, pear, Chinese bayberry and Akebia quinata. In addition to that, there are sculptures of crops and vegetables such as rice crop, millet, eggplant, cowpea and melon.

It will be like a bird watching if you try to find birds in the group of sculptures. These sculptures indicate that Toshogu is the sacred place, where is guarded by spiritual animals. Also, it indicates "Rich world that flowers bloom and birds sing."
