Children and Ieyasu -Lesson of Yomeimon Gate-

There is the sculpture, which expresses bullying. Although, there are 20 sculptures of child play, the bulling is exceptional. Why is there such a sculpture in the famous Yomeimon Gate?

It is a reverse expression of peaceful will. Children can play freely and easily in the peaceful society. In addition, those children establish the next peaceful society. In this sense, children are more precious than others. "Go for the right way and build a foundation of the peace." Those sculptures tell us Ieyasu's will.

The child, who bares one shoulder, is beating.
Someone stops them, and someone pretends as if nothing is happening.
What do you do?

"Water-jug breaking story of Sima Guang" One day, Sima Guang (1019-1086) was playing with his friends, but one of them fell into a big water-jug. The water-jug was the treasure of Sima's father. However, Sima broke the jug by stone in order to save his friend. Sima was thinking of father's anger, but the father admired Sima's behavior and taught the importance of life. An impressive scene of this legend is carved in the center of the Yomeimon Gate.

A child tries to break the snowman down. Another child starts crying.
