Frontage of the Treasure House

The Treasure House opened in 1968 in order to celebrate 350th anniversary of Toshogu Shrine. Treasures are categorized into artistic craft, painting, calligraphy and document.

Artistic crafts are such as Ieyasu's belongings, contribution from the Imperial court, dedicated goods from the successive shoguns and feudal loads, imported goods, the Western armor of Ieyasu and the Western folding screen.

Paintings and calligraphy are such as portrait of Ieyasu, and the letter, which was written by Ieyasu. Some works are duplicated and put in the Toshogu, but the real one is stored in this Treasure House. For example, "36 Outstanding Poets" is stored in the Treasure House, but replica of it is exhibited in the Haiden oratory.

Documents are such as appointment, which was related to Ieyasu's working history. Also, there are appointment from the Emperor, genealogy of feudal lords, and diary that office of the shrine recorded.
