Area of the room is 18 tatami mats.
Tatami is a kind of mat, which is made of rushes.
The average size of a tatami is about 6 X 3ft.
Sculpture of phoenix is decorated on the wainscoting.

Only Daimyo (Japanese Feudal Lord), or higher class people can go inside the Haiden Oratory. Also, worshipping place was arranged by each social status strictly. The special room was equipped on the eastside for the Shogun. The Shogun was seated under the hollyhock, which was put on the ceiling. He faced the big hall. The wall is made by mosaic work, and phoenix is painted on the wainscoting. Eyes of the phoenix have been made of imported diamond. This room is used for worshipping by Tokugawa Family today.
