*Kouun Ritsuin Temple

The Kouun Ritsuin is the temple, which belongs to Anraku Rippouryu. It was built in 1729. The purpose of this temple is to encourage the right taught of Tendai sect, and practice Buddhist precepts. This is one of the three professional training halls in Japan. The other two temples are Enryakuji Temple in Mt. Hiei of Kyoto, and Kaneiji Temple in Mt. Toei of Tokyo. You will find a notification board in front of the Shourou-mon (Bell tower Gate). It notifies "Keep out, except worshippers."

The Shouroumon Gate is Chinese style, and wooden parts are not colored. Roof is Irimoya style with arrangement of Ryugu-zukuri (The Palace of the Sea God style). Although, there was the bell, which made a beautiful sound, it was delivered for the World War II. That bell is still missing. There is Santen-doh (as known as Koma-doh) in the precinct. It is believed that the Santen-doh has an effect on safe delivery and growth of children. Many pieces of Shogi (Japanese Chess) have been dedicated to the Santen-doh for pray.
