Jakko's water flows into the stream, which flows into the river of
Tamozawa. The name of the Jakko derived from Jakkoji Temple, which
existed there before. It is told that Jakkoji Temple was built by
Saint Kobo in 820. In Edo period, Image of Jakko Gongen (God of Jakko),
Haiden oratory and image of Fudo Myouou stood in a line, and was popularized
as the central place of worship. Also, this place is known as the
birthplace of Kuginuki-Nenbutsu (Buddhist chant to reduce suffering).
The Jakko Gongen was abolished by the law, and renamed as Jakko Shrine.
Although, it still is pronounced Jakko, Chinese character of Jakko
was changed. You will find a giant stone called Ike-ishi on the way
of the waterfall.
