*Odashirogahara Plateau

The width of the Odashirogahara Plateau is about 1/4 of Senjogahara Plateau. It is 2km of circumferences, which spread to the west of Yukawa River. Also, Odashirogahara Plateau is surrounded by forest of Japanese oak.

A few kinds of plant grow gregariously in the plain from early summer to the Summer. For example, Umano Ashigata (Buttercup) from June to July, Hozaki Shimotsuke (Bridewort) from July to August, Nikko Azami (Thistle of Nikko) from July to August.

Autumn also is interesting. Especially, yellow leaves of Mizunara (Quercus cuspidata), and autumnal grass stand out. In addition to that, a tree of Shirakanba (Birch) is popular among the photographers. That Birch is called "Noble woman of Odashirogahara Plateau."

You will go into the 6km long hiking course. It takes you 20 minutes from bus stop of Akanuma or Ryuzuno-taki waterfall on foot. Low-Polluton Hybrid Bus runs from Akanuma to Senjugahama through the Shakunage Bridge and Odashirogahara Plateau. The Hybrid Bus operates from the end of April to November.
