Futatsu-doh twin halls are located in front of Taiyuin Mausoleum.
Twin halls are connected with passage. This construction style is
rare in Japan. You will only see this style in Mt. Hiei and Rinnoji
Temple.
Jogyo-doh hall is traditional Japanese
style, and image of Amida Nyorai is enshrined in the center of the
hall. This hall is for Buddhist training. Priest pray for national
peace and people's happiness on the New Year's day. The principal
image of Amida Nyorai was made in Heian period. It wears crown and
is seated. This shape is rare and precious. Also, God of Matara
is enshrined in the hall.
Hokke-doh hall is smaller than
Jogyo-doh hall, but they
are similar to each other. However, this building is lacquered and
more like Chinese style building. The principal image is Fugen Bosatsu,
and God of Kishimo-jin
and other Child-Giving Deities are put on the both right and left
side.
Although, purposes of those two
halls are slightly different, people worship them.
