*Dance Costume of Rinnoji Temple


The 20th anniversary of the Ieyasu's death was carried out in 1636. Most of the dance costumes that Rinnoji Temple stores were made in that year for the ceremony. Those costumes were made with the highest technique of the early Edo period. Also, only Rinnoji Temple stores this much existing costumes.

Originally, court dance came from China in Nara and Heian period. It was Japanized and popularized for ceremonial banquet of court noble. Also, the court dance came to be performed in religious ceremony later.
