Kirifuri Highland is located near the Mt. Akanagi, eastern edge
of front mountainous area. The altitude of Mt. Akanagi is 2010 meters
and the highland spreads on the southeast slope. However, general
understanding about this area is broader. Southern edge is an entrance
of Kirifuri Waterfall, where bus stop is located. On the contrary,
northern edge is Ohsasa pasture. That is the whole area, where Kirifuri
Toll Road runs today.
Natural environment of Kirifuri Highland entertains
visitors throughout the year. For example, Tsutsuji-ga-oka azalea
hill in the spring, Kisugedaira yellow lily plateau in the early
summer, autumnal leaves in the highland area, and skiing area in
the winter. There are restaurant, hotels and some other facilities
for leisure in each spot. Also, there are hiking courses to stroll
around the waterfall.
