Swords in Futarasan Shrine

There are more than 130 swords in Futarasan Shrine. National treasure and important cultural property are included in those. Especially, Toochika and Kunitoshi Rai's works in Kamakura period, and Tomomitsu Bishu Osafune's work in Muromachi period are remarkable.

There are three divine swords such as Nenekiri-maru, Senobori-tachi and Kashiwa-dachi. These swords will be offered to the God in Yayoi festival of April.

By the way, there is an interesting legend regarding Nenekiri-maru sword. Nenekiri literally means to cut Nene. The Nene was a name of bogy. Nene was beaten by the sword. That is why this sword is called Nenekiri-maru.

Copper sword, which represents interpersonal relationship, word and desire.
