The Akechidaira Ropeway started its operation in 1933, and ended in 1943. However, business started again in 1950. It takes 3 minutes from Akechidaira plateau to observatory. Also, it goes up to an altitude of 1473 meters. There will be the path, which extends to the Lake Chuzenji after you passed the observatory. It takes you an hour and half to arrive the Lake Chuzenji. You will find a red tower after 20 minutes walk, and there will be a good view around there. In addition, that area is the best place to see pink azalea.
